What is Moving Mountains: A Southeast Asian American Equity Summit?
Moving Mountains is SEARAC’s inaugural equity summit to bring together Southeast Asian Americans from all over the country to:
Share information and analysis on challenges facing Southeast Asian Americans and community-driven solutions to achieve equity
Build collaborative, supportive relationships
Create space for community healing and reflection
Cultivate a shared Southeast Asian American political identity
Who should attend Moving Mountains?
Anyone interested in empowering Southeast Asian American communities through advocacy, organizing, and capacity building should attend Moving Mountains. We welcome Southeast Asian American community leaders, advocates, organizers, and allies from across the U.S., as well as students, elders, educators, and direct service providers.
How can I register?
Please register here. Registration is mandatory to attend the summit and will end midnight (Pacific Time) on Friday, September 29, 2017. There will be no on-site registration available.
What is the registration fee?
The registration rates are as follows:
Elder (60+ yrs old): $50
SEARAC LAT or LEAF Alumni: $100
Grassroots / nonprofit professional: $125
All others: $175
Registration fees are nonrefundable. Payment must be submitted to finalize your registration.
What is included in the registration fee?
Your registration fee includes:
Program and meals on Thursday, October 12 (breakfast and lunch), Friday, October 13 (breakfast and lunch), and Saturday, October 14 (breakfast and lunch)
Ticket to the awards reception on the evening of Friday, October 13th
Transportation to and from our march on Saturday, October 14th
The fee does NOT include travel to and from Washington, DC, transportation during your stay, hotel accommodations, extra meals, or other expenses.
If I register, do I have to attend all three days of the program?
We highly encourage participants to attend all three days of the conference. One of the pillars of our equity summit is to connect and build community.
What is the awards reception?
The awards reception on the second day of the summit, Friday, October 13th, will honor individuals and organizations who have been champions for the Southeast Asian American community.
A ticket to the reception is included in the price of registration for summit attendees.
May I register to attend the awards reception only?
Yes! Follow the general registration link and select “Reception only” to purchase your reception ticket(s).
How do I reserve hotel accommodations at the summit venue, the Renaissance Washington DC Downtown Hotel?
On-site reservations can be made here. The cut-off date for reservations for the secured room block and rate is September 18th, after which room availability will be dependent on the hotel’s capacity.
Is there a way for me to find another summit attendee to possibly room with and split the accommodations costs?
Attendees can use the discussion board on our Facebook event page to find roommates for the duration of the summit or discuss ride shares. You can also request accommodations with a local community member through this form.
